First, get organized
There’s not much you can do to make moving day less stressful. It’s a long and tiring day, between packing up your old home into the moving van, tying loose ends, unloading it into your new house, and everything else in between.
You should have clearly labeled your boxes before you started packing.
Labeling your boxes clearly will help you to make sure they arrive at the correct place in your home. You’ll find that the process is much easier if you place the boxes in the correct location.
Grab your cleaning essentials
Start with a broom and all-purpose cleaner. Also, grab some rags and paper towels. Before you begin your unpacking, give each room a quick cleaning. It will make you feel more comfortable knowing that there are no signs of previous tenants.
Unpacking the Essentials
Have you packed an essentials kit? You should have packed your essentials in a box or two (or three). This includes bedsheets, pillows, towels, toiletries and medication. Also, bring a change or two of clothing and underwear. Some of us also consider the coffee pot, mugs and other essentials!
When the time comes, you will be ready to take a shower and sleep well. This will save you from having to dig through boxes and hunt for what you need.
Declutter as you go
Remember to keep your unpacking neat and tidy. You’ll need to empty boxes, and find a home for them. As you empty the boxes, keep your space organized and tidy. Trust us, you’ll be grateful later. It’s okay to take a little longer to empty the boxes, but you should still be careful and place your items in their proper places.
Prioritize Your Rooms
Remember that you are not unpacking the entire house at once. Begin with the most important areas and work your way down. Start with the most essential items in the rooms that are most important.

The Bedroom
Assembling your bed can take some time. If necessary, you can sleep on the floor if you’ve just arrived and it is late. Grab a pillow, a blanket and unpack your mattress. Start by arranging your clothes and the items you use most often after assembling the bedroom furniture.
Living Room
Unpack the couch and coffee table and connect your TV and anything that attaches to it.. sound-bar, gaming devices, etc. Arranging furniture and shelves can be done later.
Garages & outdoor areas
They will be organized at last. For now, you can use that garage for temporary storage and a place to deposit broken down cardboard boxes. They can be recycled later, but for now, they need a place to live.
Don’t prolong it!
